An afternoon of newly digitised archive films from 1940s Trinidadian cultural pioneer, Edric Connor, singer, folklorist, actor, director and musicologist. An expert panel will discuss the films and the extraordinary achievement of the man who brought Caribbean and African life and culture to the UK. Films will include Caribbean Honeymoon 1&2 (1960), Bound for Lagos (1960) and Carnival Fantastique (1960).
Connor was a contemporary of Sidney Poitier, Robert Mitchum, Rita Hayworth and Tony Curtis.

The African Odysseys film programme has been screening fantastic Black films once a month with Q&A’s since 2007. It is the only such programme in the country and was initiated and maintained by community activists. This is the 15th year of operation and we will be having a year long celebration.
