Sapphire + Discussion

Tuesday 10 August 8.20pm

This BAFTA-nominated drama confronts the blatant racial bigotries within the police and wider society, tracing the plight of a young student who has been brutally murdered on Hampstead Heath. Earl Cameron plays the victim’s estranged brother. A panel discussion follows the screening on Tue 10 Aug, where historians and writers will attempt to unpick both the context of the story, issues such as ‘passing’ and the film’s problematic portrayal of race.
