We are pleased to welcome Dr Althea Legal-Miller (Senior Lecturer in American History and Culture at Canterbury Christ Church University) who will give an intro to this screening.

An ambitious, sensitive and lovingly realised period drama, this film (adapted from the best-selling novel by Clifton L Taulbert) illustrates the people and the bonds that hold their community together in the rural Deep South from 1946 to 1962. In a US society where apartheid was the law, hard-line segregation begins to crumble under the rise of the civil rights movement.

Free for over-60s (booking by phone or in person only), otherwise normal matinee price. See our seniors’ matinee of Seven Samurai
