Terry Jervis: from Hackney to Hollywood

Talk with Terry Jervis plus screening of his film ‘Raising Tennis Aces’, the Venus and Serena Williams story Plus online guests: Richard Williams – father and former business manager, and coach of Venus and Serena.Damon Dash – managed Jay Z and Kanye West and owned Roca-A-Fella Records and now owns his film and TV studio Dash Studios and America Nu streaming platform (on Amazon Prime). Patti Austin – Grammy Award winning singer, songwriter, actor and goddaughter of (and vocal arranger for) Quincy Jones. Her new album Ella is also being nominated for 2024 Grammy Awards. The 6th February, so, if she gets it the 24th February will be a big deal for her Zoom appearance.Jazzy B – Soul ll Soul – will be making an appearance or via Zoom

 An showcase, interview and Q & A with one of the worlds most successful and versatile multi-media executives. Terry Jervis has worked with some of the biggest names in world wide music and film including: DIANA ROSS, STEVIE WONDER, MICHAEL JACKSON, TIM BURTON (BATMAN), SPIKE LEE , WILL SMITH, QUEEN, MADONNA, ELTON JOHN, NATALIE COLE, JANET JACKSON, LUTHER VANDROSS, THE ROLLING STONES, THE WILLIAMS SISTERS and many more.

Terry was one of the Executive Producers on the BBC/ MILLENNIUM DAY BROADCAST with over 2.5 billion viewers, the biggest live television & radio broadcast in world history involving over 70 different countries. He was a also a producer and director on the Real McCoy comedy show.

He created BEHIND THE BEAT (BBC 1 & 2), this at its peak attracted 10 million viewers and changed the face of music programming (and had a huge impact on the record industry heralding the age of multi-media entertainment). OUR COMMON FUTURE, an international BBC/CBS co-production attracted 300 million viewers and was the first global environmental entertainment show.

He is currently involved with both the Royal Air Force and Marvel organisations working on Iron Man, Black Panther and Spiderman. He is also producing his own African Superhero animation titled Spirit of the Pharaohs and has one of the biggest comic collections in the UK

Terry Jervis is recognised in as an innovative writer, television producer and director. His background in all forms of modern media communications is extensive, ranging from radio and print, multi-media and digital platforms to major live international broadcast TV events, and as a record producer. He is now a main provider of entertainment programming across music, comedy, children’s and documentary television.

Terry also worked for many years with the legendary MOTOWN label. Not only being the first person outside of America to have a record label deal with the company but also produced a number of video and TV specials and compilation albums for them including the now famous MOTOWN 30TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL. Jervis has established great international contacts across the world and continues to produce and direct alongside his other business activities. He is still very involved in the music industry and just completed the historical ‘Back To Black’ box set on 100 years of black music – released through Universal records

It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it for all

I cannot recommend BHW highly enough for a school visit

His insight and in-depth knowledge of Notting Hill combined with his well-pitched and flexible delivery meant our students were fully engaged for three full hours, which is some feat! They loved the many jokes and links to their own music tastes, and I am confident that they will retain more knowledge for the final exam thanks to his input. I have rebooked for next year.
